Memorial weekend has come and gone. The unofficial start to summer so we had to kick it off with a bang. Sean made the planning easy as he was in Steamboat Springs, Co on US Ski Team business. We had a 9 hour road trip (forester's first trip) and as you can imagine you get a little silly when trapped in a car that long, here are some snippets of conversation:
-Does it intimidate you that I got 100 on my PT test?
- Dude, I'm a ninja
-Yo Baby!
-Yo Mama!
-1988, that is late 80s
-She blinded me with Science....what the crap does that mean?
Anyhow we stayed in Ft Collins on Friday night then finished up the trip Saturday morn. Our route took us through Camden Pass and along the Poudre (pronounced powder) River. Think Colorado is one of the prettiest states we have ever visited. The driving was gorgeous and had we not been so excited to get to Sean and Cindee we could have easily spent the weekend sight seeing.
We had prepped Pres for his visit with Uncle Sean by showing him pics and getting him to say 'Uncle Sean'. The reward was visiting Sean's 1.3 million dollar luxury accommodations and Pres pointing and saying 'Uncle Sean' when Sean opened the door for us. Neat that he is starting to recognize folks.
Sean was really busy with training so we got him in bursts when he wasn't dog-tired. Although most of the time was spent grabbing meals on the fly and chatting in parking lots it was nice to just be in the same place as family. Cindee joined us and even made Preston a blankie...he loves it, THANK YOU Cindee.
One of the coolest parts of Steamboat is the bike paths. We parked our car and then pedaled all over town. Bike to bagels, bike to Sean, bike to park, bike to shopping, bike to sushi...it was awesome! The weather didn't cooperate so we got a lot of use out of our rain gear. Overall the weekend was an A-. Had we been able to see Sean and Cindee more it would have been Perfect but we were happy to settle with almost perfect. Nice weekend away with no plans...a welcome change.
We put up pics of our adventure as well as a few from previous weeks. Included are pictures of Preston after he lost a fight with a water bottle. Poor kiddo fell with the water bottle in his mouth. Scared the heck out of his parents to see all the blood but the ER docs assure us all will heal. Frankly it didn't bother him so not to worry.
All else is well, we are still missing friends and family. Look forward to some upcoming visits and travel. Stay tuned as this next weekend Pres gets to go to his first Air Show!
Love to all
xoxo
