Happy Halloween!

Greetings Ghouls and Ghosts!
It's that time of year again! Time to dress up and get free candy! This is our second Halloween here in South Dakota and it was looking like it was going to be a doosey! A couple days before the big day we had our first big snow storm. Winter doesn't mosey it's way into existence around these parts, oh no! It drops through the ceiling and smacks you in the face!! The storm came in and dropped 5 inches of snow. Regan's work even called it quits for the day because of it! No way was it necessary to shut the base down but who are we to argue for a free day to play in the snow! Karley had to stay at work as they seem to be run by people that don't panic at the first snow fall. It was just Pres and Daddy home to play, yahoo snow day! Of course, as soon as the snow was here it was gone. Literally the next day one of our neighbors was mowing their lawn. Swear to God. That's how we roll round here.
Anyway, since there are so many cute costumes for kids these days, we hooked Pres up with some options. We have a fisherman suit which he wore for pics and then we also got him a engineer suit to wear since he did not seem to enjoy wearing the fishing gear.......at all. He also had a gymnastics party where he got to wear his costume to jump around and play. Later in the week, Regan's work had a trick-or-treat day for the kids where staff decorated the office and had families come in to get candy. Pretty cool to see as some folks went crazy with the decorations! Pres and Karl came in both dressed as engineers (of the train variety) which was pretty cute to see. Initially, Pres was not too keen on all the people dressed up and the crazy sights & sounds but he warmed up pretty quick. No tears, just a lot of standing and staring. Of course he quickly found that candy is pretty sweet (literally) so thus starts the battle of making him realize that it is not a meal option.
Of course, we could not go a year without waiting until the last possible moment to decorate the house and stock up with candy so we were pretty busy on Sat. Our house would not be the same without our ghetto-fabulous Halloween decor, strewn about like we just pulled it out of the bag and threw it at the house.......which is pretty much what we do. The Ingle's came over for dinner that night and then Stacey and Karl took Kenz and Pres out to raid houses for candy! We had picked up a sweet new wagon that day to pull the kids in and it worked out great. Kenz picked up on the whole routine pretty quick. It took Pres a few houses to get it down but by the end they were both professionals. They ended up with pretty good hauls for 2 year olds. Even made a stop at the base commanders house who was giving out full size bars!! Can't beat that.
We have also added a video monitor to our ever growing family of household gadgets. This one seems to be by far Karl's favorite. She likes nothing better than to sit and watch "Preston-vision", even if he is just laying there sound asleep! It has proven to be quite helpful and entertaining. He now retrieves diapers from his room when it is time for changing, even if we are upstairs. He even comes back with wipes which was a mystery to us as to how he got them from the changing table! Today, the mystery was solved thanks to Preston-vision! It was time for a change and we told him to go get a dipe. Off he went. After a while we noticed that he was taking his time and it occurred to us that we could see what was up by turning on the monitor. We flipped it on and there on the floor was a pile of: a diaper, wipes, butt-cream, lotion, and a plastic travel holder for some wipes. Then here comes Pres pushing his step stool, that he uses to get in and out of bed, over to the changing table! Genius child. Apparently he was planning for a really nasty diaper! He would know better than us after all. He then changed his mind and decided to put most of it back. It's funny, we never noticed he was using the stool because he would always move it back to where it started! Not sure where he got that habit from.
All in all it was lots of fun. We have plenty of candy to last us a while. As a matter of fact, I'm sure we will be off-loading it at work to get it out of the house very soon!
