And it's Winter

So here we are in Nov and Winter has decided to show up in grand fashion. We have been here less than a year and already we have been through our second blizzard. This one was worse than the first as it wasn't nice and warm directly after the storm so the snow has stuck around much longer. We were stuck in the house for 3 days simply because they could not plow through all the drifts. I personally think that the plow teams here are very poor and led to us being stuck for as long as we were. I mean, this is South Dakota, it's not like this hasn't happened before. They were even warning us about it days ahead of time. You would think they would be experts at digging out of these storms! There seemed to be less than 4 "plows" actually clearing the streets. Really frustrating but that is enough about that. We ended up walking to the shopette to get food and diapers as we were running out. Check out the pics to see some of the drifts that blocked our path. Near the Ingle's house there is a car that is completely covered and ended up getting beat up by the plow. Sucks to be them. We were really lucky to not be buried nearly as bad as some of the folks on base. Some are still digging out! We went a little crazy waiting to be freed from the snow. Hard to be stuck in the house for days on end. Pres was ready to get out. The storm had extended our weekend to 4 days which was nice but would have been better if we could have gotten out to enjoy it!

ANYHOO, once we were finally freed we headed in to town for Preston's first haircut!! Karley had decided his hair was out of control and wore Regan down until he finally let the first cut happen. It went really well! Pres stayed very calm through the whole ordeal. Mind you he did not sit still so thank goodness the stylist was patient! Especially when she brought out the clippers! Pres really wanted to see what she was doing! All in all, it went very well and we are pleased with the outcome. He looks like a clean cut little boy now!

After the cut we met up with the Ingles to do some much needed grocery shopping. Pres and 'Kenz got a kick out of using the shopping cart with steering wheels! They just thought they were the bee's knees. Today was spent looking for snow clothes for the kids and getting embarrassed on the Fantasy Football field.

Another fun experience for us here in SoDak. Not something we would like to get used to but kinda neat to see. Feel free to stop in if you would like check it out!
Hope all is well!

looked wild, all the snow...not all over, ...bunched in places. Drifts were crazy. I am curious about what is done with the drifts and piles. The road did not look all that apealing, with that glazed look.

I almost feel like there has been some sort of catastrophy in the Dakotas. Maybe a nuclear blast which has destroyed the internet....maybe some very selective blast....
